Mark Wilson Pre-Seed Workshop

Mark Wilson

Mark W. Wilson is a co-founder of Pre-Seed Workshop-New York and a co-founder and Managing Partner of Neworks, the managing umbrella for the Pre-Seed Workshops. He is also the President of Initiatives Consulting. Mark started Initiatives Consulting in 1997 to help clients commercialize their most promising ideas. Initiatives has created business plans, trained sales teams, and provided marketing support and road show coaching that have led to six new companies, several million dollars of seed money, and two new medical devices. Initiatives is currently providing a medical device company with design, development and testing services to support two new product families.

Prior to founding Initiatives, Mark worked in product design, process engineering, optical tooling, lean manufacturing, and automation. He launched five new medical device platforms, currently generating more than $800 million in annual sales. As a project manager, Mark installed over $12 million of capital equipment, and has led groups of up to seventy people and managed operating budgets of up to $3.5 million.

Mark earned both a BS and an ME in Mechanical Engineering, from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He lectures periodically at RPI, Cornell University, Rochester Institute of Technology, and the University of Hawaii. He served as Entrepreneur in Residence in the Office of Technology Transfer at the University of Rochester for five years, and is currently on the staff of the Simon School’s Center for Entrepreneurship.
